Kaohsiung’s new family park at the former TRA workshop drew more than 65,000 visitors during its first weekend, pushing the city to adjust traffic, parking and crowd-control measures.

Officials are urging visitors to use public transportation, particularly during the opening period. The park is about a one-minute walk from the C35 Kaisyuan Wuchang light rail station (凱旋武昌站).

Lantian Elementary School, a new NT$1.07 billion campus near Kaohsiung University, is scheduled to open Aug. 31. The city said Lantian is Taiwan’s first elementary school built entirely with a steel structure. Construction was completed in less than two years.

The former TRA workshop is an important part of Kaohsiung’s industrial history. The city said the redevelopment project is intended to preserve railway heritage while turning the site into a public space for recreation, culture, and family activities.
